Doesn't Richard Moderate anymore ?
Posted by: shoot6x7 on 21 November 2008
Did Richard Dane get bored of helping us folk with weird and wonderful questions ?
I don't see his name on the moderators list anymore ???
Has he locked himself away with the R&D group to understand the inner-workings of a Bundy cable ?

No, I believe he is spending more time on the road at shows etc.
Richard does appear here when he can but with the preasure of the Bentley project Naim are working harder than ever.
I think we all underestimate the hard work the Naim employees put in for us,

Dear friends,
Richard had to leave Naim-audio at the very begining of November, it's indeed a very unfortunate and sad news.
I first met him at Heathrow show, and later at the Paris audio shows, it was always a pleasure to meet him and share things with him, we had great talks together
I'm sure we'll all miss him very much
Regards,
Edouard

That is sad. Unfortunately, things like this happen in life. One door closes, another opens.
Good luck Richard ...

I know many will also want to wish Richard all the best for the future. When I joined Naim it was his role as Customer Services Manager that I inherited - a difficult legacy to live up to.
Working at Naim (if you do it right) inevitably leads to an appreciation of the commitment and character of those with whom you rub shoulders. My recent visit to Naim reminded me of how the company is nothing but the people who work there - people whose robust company I miss. I consider Richard to be a friend.
I would ask you to be considerate of feelings and necessary discretion with any posts you make. Regret and appreciation, I believe, will be common.
Such hard decisions involve factors known only to those involved - none of whom can, or will, discuss them here. It is therefore neither considerate nor fair to indulge in any, however well-intentioned, speculation.

Just read this and I am shocked. For me Richard is, or was Naim Audio. I have no idea whatsoever about the circumstances or reasons and involved so can only add that I too wish him all the very best for the future.

No!
Richard was a wonderful guy to talk to and he helped me hugely. I sorted all my mains with Richards brilliant, thorough advice and this lead to an extremely revealing system, which lead to more enjoyment and (for the interest of Naim) lead to thousands spent on new Naim gear. Without Richard, I would still be listening (unhappily) to the 282/250 with only my ex-dealer's next to useless help.
He was always a gent and always had patience for my 100 question phone calls. I'm just so glad I picked his brains whilst I had the opportunity.
And for me also, he was Naim Audio.
I hope you read this Richard. Thanks for all your help and the very best for the future.

Richard will be missed.
The friendship that was built over the years will carry on, his friendly "hello" at Bristol to the steak lunch at the Keg (Toronto)and trying to find his hotel.
Always polite and with a timely wit.
His help over the years will never be forgotten...he is a friend who you can count on and one that really had your back
The one thing I think we will both miss is our chats about Tuan.... keep smiling Richard it will make them wonder what you're up to.
Best
Steve

Richard is actually now really playing 007 somewhere in the world. I know that he said he worked for Naim, but I was convinced that he was 007 with his hair, charm, and accent. He's a great guy and I'm sure he is doing well and I'm sure he'll looking well also.

I would like to add my appreciation to Richard for everything he did for Naim and their customers. He was a great credit to them.
I spoke to Richard many times and and can only re-itterate what many have said about him.
I wish him all the best for the future, I am sure he will be a great sucess at whatever he does.
Regards

I never had the opportunity to meet Richard, but when I was researching what HI-Fi brand to move to, I found him on a youtube video and his obvious enthusiasm and passion for the brand that decided me to look more into Naim. Any company is only a group of individuals who come together everyday to do work, therefore the level of enthusiasm of the individuals in that company in the end lead to the degree of it's success.
He seemed a pukka chap and I am certain success awaits him wherever he has moved onto.
Naim - keep the enthusiastic believers where you can, you'll need them when times are tough.

That is a great shame.
Richard took me on a tour of Naim a few years ago and he really couldn't have been more generous and kind with his time. I believe Richard's approach and personal touch embodied all that Naim stood for; a firm of enthusiasts making hi-fi for fellow enthusiasts.
I sincerely wish him the very best for the future.

Very true!
With no doubt Richard is extremely good at building relashionship, I'm sure this will be a great help to him.
I wish him the best
