Naim credos price check

Posted by: JP Moree on 02 February 2004

Hi,

I can buy 2 second hand Credos for 1000 Euros from my dealer, including 6 months of warranty. They are in top condition.

Is this a fair price?

I hope to get 500 Euros for my 5 year old Monitor Audio PMC703s. Anyone experiences with both of these speakers?

Look forward to fast responses as I have to act quickly!

Hi JP,

Studio 107? I think it's a fair price. They do offer very good exchange rates as I recall it, so perhaps you can make a good deal with them. But, be shure that you like the Credo's more than your Monitor Audio's. I feel that Monitor Audio matches Naim very good. Having owned MA Studio 2's, Naim Intro's and now MA Studio 20 SEC's I must admit that these speakers do sound a bit different. I could easily live with both brands, and if I need to place my speakers close to a wall in my next house, I will certainly return to Naim again. Listen before you buy, not everyone seems to like Naim speakers!

Oh, and buying a HiCap would be a way better upgrade; the best upgrade I ever made was adding a HiCap to my 92+90/3. Except for starting with Naim that is offcourse :-)

Good luck!

Bas,

Thanks for the information. My speakers are very close to the wall (<50cm), and, as a result (I think) the bass is not tight at all. I think this is in general a bit of a shortcoming of my Monitor Audios. I would expect a lot tighter low range from the Credos. Is this your experience as well?

I will upgrade my 112/stageline with a PS later. I am thinking of a Flatcap 2, but after reading so much nice things about a Highcap upgrade, I consider a s/h as well.

Cheers,
JP

Last Friday I got them: 2 s/h Credos looking and sounding like new! Boy, what an improvement compared to my MAs! Sound is so much more detailed, tighter bass and at higher listening levels a lot less compressed!

Again sold forever on Naim. Next step: Flatcap 2
