Having recently aquired a NAIM sistem it's time to pass on the old gear to the girlfriend. The problem is that she hates the cherry veneer on the speakers. Her current plan is to spray them silver (Over my dead body)In conversation I've managed to ascertain that light oak or beech would be an exceptable compromise for a finish. Is it possible to get speakers re-veneered, can you recommend anyone and any ideas on what this might cost?

I know it's cheating but if the alternative is silver spray paint how about popping into the local B & Q (or whatever) and buying a roll of what we used to call "Fablon".
Basically it's thin self adhesive backed vinyl in rolls. They have loads of different pseudo wood veneer finshes . Take the girlfriend along and tell her to pick.
If you do do this one word of warning it's a two person job really since you have to start at one end and very carefull smooth it into place to avoid air bubbles. If you do get a few anyway, take a needle and puncture them to let the air out.
I turned a black wood finish speaker into a light oak one this way about a year ago and it still looks fine.
