n-Serve iPhone app

Posted by: 0rangutan on 19 July 2010

I note that the HDX app appears to have a new icon in the Apple App Store and has been re-named n-Serve. The description looks the same so sadly this is not the long awaited Uniti app.

No, you are waiting for the nStream app. But this update is very promising and I expect (hope) that app to be up right on the heels of nServe.
The new logo is nice. Is it a hard drive?

The HDX app has been renamed as it can be used to control the primary local audio output of any of the Naim servers - not just the HDX.

Thanks Phil - any update on the likely release date for the n-Stream app?

A question we would all like an answer to. Last I heard it was with Apple being certified. We wait with baited breath!!!

The easiest answer I can give you is that the intention is for it to go live on the Appstore when the Qutes begin shipping...

(Assuming Apple approve it before then which they should do...)

Great news, Phil.

So all should be good by the end of the month, then??? Breath remains baited...

Apparently the update of the HDX/n-serve App is not available in all local iTunes Stores.
Could Naim please arrange for the update to also be added to the Belgian iTunes Store?

Having updated to n-serve from the original HDX app I am very miffed that it is now free when I had to pay £30 for the original. In the rush to get new products out, a bit of customer care for early adopters would not go amiss.

Agreed. Especially when we beta tested it for them......
I always thought the app should have been free from the start.
Maybe a free hi-res download or two would smooth the feathers

Free??

In the UK App Store the n-serve app is £24.99

I think that this is just a feature of how the App Store handles updates. As you already have the app installed, the update is, of course, free and says so when you browse in the AppStore. New purchasers still see £24.99 or $41.99.

Hi Guys,

The app is not "free" - it is and will remain a paid for application.

We have however made the app available to a few territories (for a strictly limited period of time) by negotiation with dealers and installers in those territories so that they can use it as a sales and promotion tool.

Hopefully that clears up any confusion.

Cheers

Is this the app that will be used with the UnitiServe?

I was able to "purchase" the n-Serve app today from the German AppStore free of charge although I hadn't purchased the app previously.

I've noticed there are more countries where the n-serve application is provided for free from the AppleStore.
