Dryers

Posted by: ken c on 10 February 2004

our phillips whirlpool dryer packed up today. its quite old and probably not worth repairing, so we are thinking of buying a new one. any of you guys have knowledge of "good ones" to consider, and why. are these "condenser" ones any good? reliable? any pointers, review web sites, etc would be great...

If you can vent a dryer to an outside wall, or run it in the garage, then a conventional dryer is better. Condensers work OK, but take longer, use more electricity, and cost more to buy. They also need regular emptying of the reservoir. We have one purely because we cannot vent to the outside from that room, it works OK.

I think tumble dryers are pretty simple things-not sure I'd buy anything fancy really.

Just shave your head so you won't have to worry about it.

I've just bought a Miele T240. So far it's been excellant. It senses how wet the washing is and stops once it is dry. Hopefully no shrunk clothes. There is a free 5 year warranty on some Miele dryers if you buy before the end of the month. I got mine online from the http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/invt/t240.
