How to deal with noisy neighbours

Posted by: erik scothron on 24 March 2006

I have a noisy neighbour who plays crap music very loud each night. Mostly I put my ear plugs in, sometimes I complain and sometimes I just sit and put up with it, listen to my own music with ear phones or turn the TV up or astral travel to Tibet where I have a weekend home in a cave.

The thing is what can one do short of taking a baseball bat to said neighbour's hi-fi? A couple of years ago someone did this and the Judge let him off.

Does anyone have any suggestions re. police, local council, or suppliers of baseball bats?

Thanking you in anticipation of illumination.

I believe that a complaint to the local council can initiate some action.

Deliver them some stinky cheese (Limburger or the like) one weekend when they're not home.
Better when they'll be gone for say a week.
In all seriousness this is a tricky problem, if you report them they'll have to know who did it (at least in the USA). Relations will go down the tubes, it's never a good idea to feud with the neighbors.
Alternatively, buy this amp XLS 602 and a pair of PA speakers, point them at the neighbors and play some Stravinski.
Or, buy a giant sub (4 Ohm, preferably) and bridge the amp for 1600W of speaker wire heating power (or breaking in power??!), playing the Telarc recording of the 1812 Overture.
I use this amp for my bass guitar, it has NEVER run out of "gas". It is no substitute for my 250 in driving my 'Briks though!
Or, if possible, develop an interest in feeding birds and arrange your feeder so they have to excrete on the neighbor’s automobiles…
Good luck, no fun to deal with that crap.

I take it his hi-fi goes louder than yours.
