Any recommendations out there on how to clean a dirty LP12 platter (fingerprints, etc.)?

Try some brasso.Initially it will be a bit shiny, but then tones down nicely after a few weeks.I do mine about once every 2 yrs.I'm sure someone will say that you will remove the lacquer and do terrible things to the sound quality, but it looks nice

I lapped and polished my LP12 platter to a mirror finish by hand.

It looks fantastic - I couldn't believe, however, that I'd do something so nerdy, it was looking messy though.

But I now have to face the fact that I'm a complete anorak.

Shame on me - shame on you too if you attempt it......resist resist!

I simply can't believe you guys would waste all that time and energy polishing an LP12 platter. Nerdy doesn't get anywhere near it. Roll Eyes

I can imagine if you had a Georgian dining table you'd strip it down with wire-wool and varnish it with some of that stuff that 'does what is says on the tin' Wink

My LP12 is also showing the patina of old-age and use, but my method is just to keep the thing turning playing music, that way you don't see the fingerprints Smile

"Tads Nadger!" I love it! I'll give the old Brasso a try. Hopefully our formula over here in the states is the same as yours in the U.K.

Thanks for your help.
