All that effort and all he might get is a place in the record books for the fastest cirmwhatever of the world - beaten by a couple of astronauts it appears.

A Saturn V against his little machine - hardly seems like a fair contest.

For an interesting account of one of the funnier incidents in flying history tap "Wrongway Corrigan" into the search engine and enjoy. I used yahoo and got a very detailed story complete with pictures. No Howard hughes but lots of fun.

Until we figure out warp drive, that is!
Good for him. Without people pushing the limits of technology and human achievement we'd all be sitting around in caves.
