Your all-time favorite tune or song?

I'll admit to "Forever Autumn" on the old "War of the Worlds" album. Can't really explain it but I find it incredibly moving. I hadn't heard it for years and then it popped up on the radio last week. Instant spinal tingle. Sad? Dunno. What's yours?

The Cure - Jumping Someone Else's Train.
'Going not quite as far but in half the time, everybody's happy now they finally are the same, cos everybody's jumping everybody else's train'.

Mind To Give Up Living, from the Paul Butterfield Blues Band's East West album - Mr Michael Bloomfield and his guitar at the peak of their powers.

My favourite rotates between "See Emily Play", "Albert Hammond Bootleg", "Hello Goodbye", "Polly On The Shore" and "Song From the Bottom of a Well" [Pink Floyd, Half Man Half Biscuit, Beatles, Shirley Collins & Kevin Ayres]
If I've got to go for one then it's got to be that Dicks and Rudge classic A Mouse Lived In A Windmill In Old Amsterdam

Cannot possibly have one single best tune, far too hard a choice, but from the 7" collection this would definitely be in the top 5.
Sorry if this is breaking the rules but here are the other 4:
Au Pairs - You
The Monochrome Set - Alpaville
XTC - Are You Receiving Me
New Order - Ceremony
Nic
Sorry just got to sneak in Gang Of Four - Damaged Goods EP.

White Man in the Hammersmith Palais - The Clash
original 7" single, worn thin and I love every snap, crackle and pop

If absolutely forced to choose just one, it would be (Seasons Dont) Fear The Reaper by The Blue Oyster Cult.
It's heard every now & again on the radio, but I cant stand it when it's on a playlist & gets played every single day for weeks
For me it's an all time great love song!

Well, if I get four more too they'd be
Elvis Costello - Pills and Soap
The Smiths - Handsome Devil
Gang of Four - At Home He's a Tourist
Everything But The Girl - Tender Blue.
And if I could vote for my most hated song it would be Bohemian Crapsody.

Shall we do it? The most hated song of all time thread?
Or maybe, my most favourite hated song thread?
I'm legging it..

Bohemian Crapsody would be in my top 3 along with "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins and I'm ashamed to admidt I even know it, but "Walk Of Life" by Dire Ofboredom, well it's money for nothing.

I would have to say picking a favourite is almost impossible and would change daily for me!
However, Comfortably Numb by Floyd gets me everytime, especially that guitar solo. I think this one is ingrained since Earls Court the Wall Gig.
Hope the thread is back on course!

Agreed.
From a year later, I'm in love with a German film star - The Passions, this should not be dismissed on the basis that it was a mainstream hit.

Ok H,
How about, Don't Step On The Cracks - Wah! Heat 1980 B side to Seven Minutes To Midnight. Top tune from severely underrated band. Or Puppet Life - Punishment Of Luxury. There's more.......

One of my favourites too. It may have been mainstream at the time but it still delivers the goods now. It will be the first thing I play when I get home from work.
Thanks for

Not my all-time favourite, but a classic that I just re-discovered:

Ned's Theme from "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" soundtrack. A stupid but infectious little tune played on a Casio keyboard.

Current favourite which has just replaced "Delicate December" by Erin Mckeown is "Nothing Can" by Gemma Hayes.
All time favourite is "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" by Al Green. Sure it's a Bee Gees song but Al & Willie trancend.
But then there's Lowgold's "Keep Your Gun Dry" and "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Rait and so many others - it's easier to just stick with the reverand. Whilst XTC are my favourite band I find it impossible to select a favourite track

Probably "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys.
