Time on the Forum
The time shown on the Forum clock is one hour behind UTC/GMT. What is the reason for this ?

Cheers

Don,

I am seeing the correct time on postings.

Lonato,

I posted my opening post at 10:38 UK time today. The time recorded on the Forum Post is 09:38.

I'm pretty sure UK time today is in line with GMT/UTC etc.

This means the Forum time (at least as displayed on my computer - perhaps no-one else's) is one hour behind UK time/GMT/UTC. Or am I missing something?

Cheers

Don

PS my computer is showing UK time, ie 10:47 as I type this

Don,

My view of the forum on my screen shows your opening post as being done at 10.38. There must be a setting wrong somewhere! Maybe a look around settings might uncover the culprit.

Cheers

Lontano time zone is UK - 1 hour then? Smile

Daylight saving tim in the US?
Some US States and Canadian Providences don't observe DST. BTW (Wiki)

Time is an illusion, lunch time doubly so.

You should get a decent tool to use then. I told you when you bought it that they had left too many things off it. Maybe ipad 2 will fix it Big Grin Winker

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.

Forum time 10:08, real time 11:08.

Top left hand corner click the Go button.
Then Personal zone > Preferences > My Time Display

Thanks, fixed it by moving to my time zone, community time zone is an hour behind.

OK, i've changed to "my time zone" and abandoned "Community Time Zone" so this post should appear at 14:39 in line with UTC (at least on my screen)

Community is no doubt set by (one of) the Administrator(s). A quick look at the global time zones shows me that very few people live in the Community time zone (if any)- it seems to exist between Ireland and Iceland..........

The server is in the US and they switched to Winter time this weekend - the server operators have not switched their times and they do not understand that in Europe we switched to Winter time last weekend. It happens every year

Being in the US they most likely do not understand that yurup has different time zones.. After all when their grandparents were here in 1944 and 1945 they stayed on NY time <g>

Yes, I'm sure that must be it. It's awfully complicated.

One of my daughters lives in BC, so they changed back an hour last night (I think) and are again 8 hours behind the UK.

Mrs D has never, ever, in 10 years, managed to figure out WHY they are 8 hours different, never mind whther they are 8 hours behind or ahead. So most phone calls (about twice a week) spend the first 5 minutes trying to sort out what time it is................

Don is right. I changed the forum time after last weeks time change in the UK. However this weekend the US changed their time and I was away so wasn't able to change the time back again until this morning.

My new phone thought I was in Cupertino, and my calendar on the phone thought I was in Calgary. Bizarrely, this double error resulted in correct timing of appointments and alarms. When I changed the calendar's location to Vancouver, everything went out by an hour. My alarm was set for 6:20 but didn't go off until 7:20, even though the time displayed on the phone was correct. My appointments all went back one hour (I would have been late). Changing the phone location to Vancouver also set everything correctly again. This stuff makes my head hurt.
