Sergeant Pepper Vinyl

Posted by: Shayman on 08 February 2002

I recently decided to buy a copy of Sgt Pepper on vinyl and started looking on Ebay etc for a decent copy. Can anyone tell me why some of apparently the same pressing go for £100 and others for £20 to £30?

How many pressings of this album were there and how does anyone tell the difference if the label, release date, condition is the same? What are the characteristics of any particular release which make a copy more valuable?

Maybe some one has a list of all the released versions they could post or direct me to.

Cheers for any help

Jonathan

I asked Google and ended up here which was nice.

And then I asked again and ended up
here which I haven't read yet.

Curiously, I bought a copy of this album in the late 70's and it was banded AND it didn't have the (tape reverse) bit on the run-out.

I sold it for two pounds and bought a "proper" copy.

Someone will probably now tell me that it was a rarity and now commands hundreds!
