Uniti: Anybody added a power amp?

I was wondering if to add a power amp to my Uniti?
is anybody using a power amp with their Uniti? If so, which amp and why? What did it bring in terms of performance?

How do you connect a power amp to a Uniti, the manual states you can but does not really tell you how.

Hiya,

I had a Uniti with a NAP200. The step up in quality is unbelivable, so much so I tried it without and it sounded very ''wrong'' to my ears afterwards.

its an easy thing to add although in my case i justed wanted to imrove on it more and more Winker

You actually connect it on the preamp out din.

I run it with two 135's!

I had to make a special cable for it ti work (only one 4-pin output avail on the Unit)

Would a 140 make a worthwhile difference? I can squeeze a half size case into my setup, but not much more.

I added a 250:2 to the uniti about 9 months back, and now have ended up with Uniti/NDAC/252/SC/250:2. Slippery slope.LOL Now the Uniti is a good source but now looking to add maybe a cd5XS and get rid of the uniti. Arrggghhhh!

John,

this thread is running in Hi Fi Corner as well.

After my experiences with NAP 160 and Uniti, give the 140 a try if you can. Make sure 140 recently serviced and not sounding below par.

Maybe you could report your findings.

Oh, and maybe this is my opportunity to request Naim reintroduce a shoe-box size amp to match some of the new products being released.

Just to add to Graham's shoebox sized amp request, I have said the same to Naim on numerous occasions now.

Whilst David's suggestion of the NaimNet NNP02 is essentially a "shoebox" amp, it is much more than just a power amplifier and therefore unfortunately not the answer. As it has NaimNet connectivity, 5 local source inputs, wrap-around steel casework and doesn't have the semi-circular Naim logo on the fascia, it is a different beast all together.

With the UnitiQute about to hit the shops (it's been a long enough wait now, hasn't it), a matching power amplifier to sit alongside it for customers who want an upgrade option without adding a full width box would be an excellent move by Naim IMHO. Add it to the wishlist...

I bought a NAP 250/Uniti together and they sound just fine. Havn't taken the plunge and tried the Uniti on its own though.

I tried my Uniti with the NAP 250.2 but in the end preferred the Uniti as-is! Sure, it had better dynamics and resolution but for the price it is just not worth it!

I tried the Uniti- with the 200 then 202,then Supernait etc etc and I am now awaiting the 'Qute, really for my office its just about the music.
