If you liked "Prime Directive", check out "Extensions" - friends that have enjoyed the former, enjoyed the latter even more...

Cheers

Seconded - "Points of View" is a cool CD.

Kilson is outstanding btw. I had the good fortune to see the quintet at Yoshi's across the bay from SF and spent the entire time watching Billy. Not only is he technically outstanding, he has a style and happy attitude that was very infectious and had us grinning the entire time (though I'm sure that the music had something to do with it big grin)

Do try to catch this bunch live. Holland is one of the few living connections to the best jazz of the 50's (Ray Brown and Leroy Vinnegar also come to mind and come highly recommended).

Cheers

Keith.

Catch them live

I saw the Dave Holland octet live at the southbank a couple of months ago. they were alright but not brilliant, i think the octet was pushing things a bit too far coherence wise (there was too many of them). kenny wheeler on the trumpet sort of saved them though.

if you like d.holland check out 'dream of the elders' (ecm) and 'angel song' with wheeler, frisell, holland, et al.

dev, currently spinning 'way out west' by the master.
