Radio interference

I keep getting quite marked radio through my speakers. How can you sort this out? also I get quite a marked switch off thump?

Currently have CD3.5 LP12/Lingo/LV2/Troika through 72/140 Epos ES14.

Incidentally, the Phono card is K. Is this right for the Troika?

I was just last evening looking into this with my system (CDS2/52/Hi-cap-NAXO?2*250/Credo/LP12, ITTOK,Karma).

The right speaker keeps picking up some foreign radio station, sounds like Norwegian. I never got this before when my speaker cable was all over the room, looped up, in a mess etc. It only started when I hid the cable and attached it to the skirting board by using large cable holders and looping up the excess and hiding behind a chair.

It was so annoying me last night whilst I was trying to read in a quiet room that I tried a few things with the speaker cable. The RFI seemed to diminish when I straitened out the cable, but when I looped it back was still OK, until I pushed it behind the armchair when it started again. Could the chair be acting as an aerial??

I let you know how I get on.
