Quick Plugplayer question
Posted by: divuk83 on 13 October 2010
I'm sure there is someone in here who knows the answer to this!
I have a Uniti and a Ready Nas Duo and I'm using plugplayer until I get the new firmware can use the Naim app. Why isn't the cover art working? I have the art saved in each album folder as "folder.jpg" if anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,
I've had the same issue. I've given up on PP. Sending my Uniti in for update tomorrow. Have high hopes for the Naim app!

Are you playing FLAC or WAV? FLAC should have the artwork embedded. Maybe try renaming the cover art Folder.jpg (capital F). May depend on which software you're using on the ReadyNAS

dont bother..... filenames are not case sensitive.
You need to make sure the UPNP server is setup to stream album art. Easy to do in Foobar. No clue how to do that on your NAS.
Go through all of the possible settings and you will learn more than you want.

You do not require embedded art, although it might work if the UPNP server is stupid.

Unless you're running an filing system where file names ARE case sensitive (i.e. ext2 on Linux). Depending on the server software it may matter.

Sorry for misleading. I have never heard of "ext2".
Thanks for the correction.

What media server does the Ready NAS use in your system and how are you filing individual albums?

Try embedding cover art into one of the individual .FLAC file and see if this works.

I have the same hardware setup and have the same problem with plugplayer. I use FLAC files ripped by XLD on my mac. The album art is set to be encoded on the file and the image is displayed when it is ripped
Would be very keen to understand if this is related to XLD, the Upnp app on the readynas duo or the plugplayer app??
Many thanks
Paul

I use PlugPlayer ( with an ADS and ipod ). It displays Album art both with WAV and FLAC as ripped in dbpoweramp. Implication then is that PlugPlayer works in the right circumstances.
I have found that the UPnP server apps have variable ability to deliver. I use Asset UPnP but obviously not with a Naim box.

Using ReadyDLNA 4.1.6 on my ready NAS Duo, they are all FLAC files ripped in DBPoweramp. They are all in album folders with the art saved as folder.jpg

With cover art working on plugplayer for other users and the fact that the problem remains with another ripping tool this is beginning to point to an issue with readydnla and PP. Has anyone used readydnla with another app? E.g Uniates and naim app?

I've just tried Twonky with a copy of the files on my NAS. The coverart displayed fine therefore the issue appears to reside soely with the ReadyDNLA player which is standard on the ReadyNAS Duo. I guess the options are either to live with it or to use a beta/custom version of Twonky.
Hopefully yhis won't be the same issue with the nStream app
