Wilco-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

Stunning album, full of invention, variety and style. A classic in waiting, all the swagger of Summerteeth but far more diverse and satisfying.
Best album I have bought this year-and I've only had it 2 days!
Apparently it wa available via their website for ages because they were dropped by their label for producing somthing 'not commercial enough' Anyone else heard it or got comments?

Good to hear this.
I have Being There and Summerteeth and like both without either being earth shatteringly good.
Is this available on Vinyl??

The two previous albums always seemed to me to need editing down-Being There would make a good single album and Summerteeth has 'spare' tracks too.
The style of YHF is more 'spare' and even farther from alt.country. Perhaps in places a bit like Pavement, one track even reminded me of Eels.

I have a couple of Wilco albums and if I am honest I would file them under 'worthy but dull'.

Saw them live (at the Abbey Pub, on Chicago's Northwest Side, with Sally Timms) the weekend after September 11th, and may have been the best show I've ever seen Jeff Tweedy do; most of the set list was from the new record.

Just bought the album yesterday and I have not had a chance to listen to it. Their first album "A.M." is my favorite, the Billy Bragg collaborations were also good.

Still the best album I have bought this year. One of my friends liked it so much he bought me a surprise present-so now I have two!
It is almost free to a good home. First to reply with a few recommendations for something else I might like/try gets it!

I would love to take this off your hands.
I'm not sure of your musical preferance so don't know what specifically to recomend.
However if you've not got the following in the Acoustic/rock area they are well worth checking out.
Last years Albums by: 'Kingsbury Manx' and 'I am Kloot' also Shaun Mullins's Souls Core.

Many thanks to Bruce for this album that arrived on Sat 25th.
Appologies Bruce for not replying sooner but I was on Holiday last week.
Anyway to the Album.
I've got to abmit it took a few listens, after the first listen I thought it had gone a bit too leftfield, and lacking any real tunes. However after 3 listens things were changing. Now after 5 listens I think it's great. Some of the tracks are sparse and fragile but the tunes really come through. It has a similar feel in some respects to the last Lambchop LP but with more variation, better tunes and more momentum to the tracks.
All in All pretty good then, Cheers again Bruce.
PS. Any Luck with either of the suggestions above?

Glad you are enjoying it. BTW my copy has a few multi-media tracks if you pop it in the PC.
I am pursuing your recomendations, just getting together a bundle of various things from Amazon before hitting that fatal order button.

Bruce et al--
Just got it today. Great album--my favorite of the year so far. I agree with Nick--this has "grower" written all over it.
Now, if only more music this good would come out. . . .
Best,
Bob

A documentary was made "going behind the scenes" as Wilco made Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I thought it was an interesting article, the movie also sounds as if it would be interesting to see. It will be shown throughout the U.S., I haven't heard if it will go overseas.
