Nait 2 balance

Posted by: Lightkeeper on 21 February 2002

Hi all !

Can anyone explain me why is the left channel of Nait 2 about 10 percent louder than right channel, so I have turn my balance switch for about 15 degrees right to have same signal?
Thanks, Ozren

This is almost certainly a room interaction effect.

Speaker distances from walls, wall material, doors and windows have musch effect on balance.

Hi Mike !

No it is not a room. I have expected an answer like that. It is electrical problem, but don't know why.

Ozren,

Its pretty typical of Naits type 1 and 2 which were designed with the same volume pot. These pots
are not terribly accurate i.e. well matched between channels, so balance adjustments may be necessary. They are least accurate at low volume control settings (approx to around 9 o'clock position) which is perhaps where you are most listening? This is more likely to occur if you are listening to CD which has 2V nominal output level...or you have above average sensitivity speakers.

Chris,

my system consist : Arcam Alpha 8 CD player
Project 1.2
Nait 2
Epos 12
Kimber PBJ
Kimber 8 TC
Before Arcam CD, I have used NAD 502, but I was heard the same.

Great little amp.

Crap 'pot' at low levels on CD.

Sent mine back to Naim to no avail. Apparently, there isn't enough space for a better 'pot'.
