Dear Friends,
I re-commissioned the Nait 5i and SBls as rear speakers in a 5.1 suround sound system for a house mate of mine today! Trailing some quite respectable Creative Audio fronts and Sub! The result was almost commical! Though the set alone sounds somewhat diminished compared to the old set up, it simply requried that I had to suppress a grin!
Then we watched a film and the result was enjoyable. There is not space for the SBLs in my room, and I was worried that the damp in the place they were stored would spoil them. My friend wanted to borrow the rig, so I did not take much persuading. It was horrendously sharp and tight for the first half an hour! Then it came back! The result was a refusal to believe the Nait was only 50 watts a side, ans the speakers, were twenty one years old! I never saw such an expression on someone watching me put SBLs together! Szymon tried out some bass test recording, and it was apparently the first time he had not heard it bottom out a system! For myself, I have never heard such a clear representation of a bass-line that was so loud: I left the room!!!! [The set up is not entirely optimised, type Smiley].
This must be the first time that SBLs have acted as both rear speakers and de-facto sub in a 5.1 system! Bit like Jackie Du Pre playing at that back of the 'cellos!
