And other favourite sayings of the 'misunderestimated' president.

Misunderestimated? How very sesquipedalian, George. Well done.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of them, such as the one about Japan.

My favourite: "You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test."

After you stop laughing, you begin to realise how frightening this is. Still, at least it's nearly over.

Or perhaps not.

Hitler was so evil it can be difficult to see his funny side.

Bush is so funny it can be difficult to see his evil side.

With all due respect, I disagree with both ...

As far as Hitler, there are brilliant comedic responses like Charlie Chaplin's Great Dictator and Mel Brooks' The Producers (Springtime for Hitler).

As far as Bush, yes, he's an inarticulate moron, which can be occasionally amusing, but any intelligent person who has been paying attention can see his evil side ... even a child.

All best,
Fred

if you think bush is not evil and calculating, just look at how his allies have fared with the TARP money, and how well they have done during his administration. everyone else got left out in the cold.

that's no accident. he may be a moron, but he's a moron with an unswerving sense of purpose.

for myself, i am not and have never been amused.

Fred and others interested in hating etc of GWB - there is a good program on the BBC Radio that can be heard at

Listen again ARchive Hour

not only does it repeat some of the great gaffs but also does show the odd positive side.

If you listen to the program I would be interested to hear your thoughts.

It will be available for 4 more days

Another good program was "Obama Professor President" about Obama's Chicago academic background - it can be heard again for another 18 hours or so at

Obama program web page

It's so disgusting that Bush wants to create no fishing zones in western pacific yet does nothing about or Atlantic and Pacific coasts and over fishing. And he wants to drill, mine and put in roads on the land. But he wants to be known for some environmental legislation. UGH!

Hi Mike,

Either you misunderstood me, or I'm misunderstanding you. I absolutely do think that Bush is indeed evil and calculating.

Perhaps in writing "if you think bush is not evil and calculating" you meant "you" in the sense of "one," not necessarily me. It's just that your reply follows my quote and therefore seems to be a direct response to it.

All best,
Fred

Dear Jim.

You got it right.

Here in Aus there have been very many shark bites on Humans dressed as Seals (wearing wet suits) having chunks taken out of them.

Some fools have been swimming in shoals of fish at breakfast time so find the shark takes a bite out of them.

As depicted sharks dont think we taste that good so usually spit us out. Trouble is is that the bite includes legs pelvis chests etc etc, not just a finger.

One brave fool hit a sharke several times and managed to save a swimmer when the shark released its victim.

So we have to realise that we are joining sharks in their super market when we enter the water.

Still here the response is to go out and kill the killer sharks.

sad but true.

regards David
