Epos12 or Intro2?

Hi all !
I have Epos12 speakers with Nait2, but I have chance to buy ex-demo Intro2 for a good price.
What do you think ?

I've been playing with Epos m12's just recently. I have to say I like them a lot. However, I've only tried them with big amps and I can tell that they might make a Nait2 work harder than Intros would. The EPOS is a neutral speaker with a slightly forward (gorgeous) midrange. I haven't done the straight A/B, but it's my impression that the intro has a good deal more colour and pace, but misses out on that lovely midrange.
Still, both speakers are in the same price range so they're in direct competition with each other - a difficult choice indeed. I think if you really like your EPOS m12s, then stick with them.
Regards,
Frank.

Is it easier to drive Intro2 than Epos12?

It's my impression that the Intro may be easier to drive than the Epos. However, I haven't tried this with something like a Nait where it would be obvious.

I used to own ES11's, my first real hi fi speaker,
and for myself I moved onwards and upwards to the intro. Actually mine were the intro 1 with the original internal crossover. Boy those suckers were harsh with a capital H. But still they had that room filling presence and an excitement/passion/abiltiy to convey emotion that the es11's lacked.
To be fair the es11's did have a capacitor to the crossover to improve them( I don't know if it made a big difference because I never tried it) but due to the share physical size of the es11 it couldn't do justice to large scale works.
So the intro 1's got upgraded to the external crossover which sweetened the sound, and the crossovers were rewired in nac 5 from the drivers to the crossovers. All in all the tweeter sweetened up and the sound had presence and scale although it still got a little harsh when driven hard and with the spikes resting on screws in the floor the bass left the ES11's for dead.
If you listen to say the sbl it's a different kettle of fish, but hey I lived with intro's for ages and they were just good music..a little young and immature but had a good heart..horses for courses. The intro's taught me what all that PRAT stuff was about and how some hi fi can reproduce, or depending on your point of view, artificially create emotion/passion in music
The intro 1's apparently have a better tweeter than the intro 2, the tweeter in the Intro 2 is actually cheaper according to my dealer...so my remodelled Intro's were apparently the best of both worlds.
The dealer I traded them in for the SBL's was suprised at how good they sounded.
Give them a listen and you'll decide for yourself.![wink](/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

Thank you Name. That is what I want to hear, but how is possible that Intro1 have a better tweeter than Intro2?

A couple of months ago I demoed the Intro II's and really disliked them. Thin sounding, too bright and all the cliches you've ever heard about them.
I have used Intro I's for quite some time and find them way way way better. Very well balanced, good body and punchy. But of course, it could be room problems. In my room though, Intro I's are unbeatable (for the price).

It seems that Naim goes for the "first" time about making worse product in order to predecesor.
I can't believe that Intro1 is better than Intro2.
Intro2 have Credo cabinet and I cannot believe that those tweeter downgrade can make this speaker so bad.
Is there anybody else who can say something about that?

The IntroII is a lot better than the IntroI in my view. Much more life, colour and pace.

Thanks Frank,
It seems that we have so much different opinions here about second generation of Intros. I can't believe that 2 is not better than 1, because it use Credo cabinet and that controversal tweeter is not somethingreally bad. I was heard Intro2 and sounds pretty good and the most important it have miles better resolution in order to Epos.
Cheers

It wouldn't be Naim makes a worse product than it's predecessor. A lot of people prefer the CDI to the CD2, same for the Nait 2 to 3 and 72 to 102. It's all a matter of taste I guess...

...that the Intro 2 is an easier load than the Intro 1. Yes? No?

I doubt that the nait can really drive the es14 let alone the es22. I think it struggles to drive your 12´s. Intro´s ,as frank says, is probably an easier drive.
If it was up to me I´d keep the es 12 and get a more powerful amplification.

Bas V,
You are right.
Greg,
Intro 1 is 88db sens. and Intro2 is 89, so Intro2 is more amplifier friendly.
AndrewT,
How do you mean that Intros are lean with good speed in the sam time?
Tazz,
I would like to get better resolution and with cd5/Nait2 Intros will better shining than Epos. Epos 14 or even 22 are almost same thing like 12. A little better in some way, but basicaly same. I've got good price for Intros and don't like to miss them.
Gunnar,
You're right what you are said for Epos14 and 22, but I don't want 12 anymore, because they are limited in resolution and tonal separation, even with CD5/Nait2 musicians acting like they are connected with hands. Intros are more sophisticated and step up in my opinion. I think that I'am right.
My Nait is so good, and when I will have a lot of money to upgrade it it wouldn't be 102/140, it would be 82/250.
Thanks all,
Ozren

As long as you had a listen and you made up your mind after that.....that's got to be the best way.
When it comes to hi fi let your ears and soul do the listening and leave your brain to do the working out of how the hell am I going to pay for this!!!!![big grin](/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

I am not sure how does Nait2 compared to Exposure Super XV integrated, but the Super XV still manages to have a good grip on the 14 although there is still room for improvement.
