Best streaming product?

Posted by: Dustysox on 04 June 2010

Afternoon gents.

I am currently using my "old" trusty Logitech Transporter as my main source. I keep seeing Majik ds pop up in forum reading. Is this a step up in audio compared to my Transporter? I'm not ready (...just yet!) to make a move on my source with so many changes in the "Streaming" pipeline.

As with all things Hi-Fi, i was just wondering...like "we" do...what if...!!

S-Video?

What year was this thing made?

Where is the 900 pin "printer cable" for hooking up my dot matrix!

No kidding!

My first thought, unfortunately, was that Naim had selected an older low-end commodity motherboard that simply came with all of these borderline-obsolete connections.

Hope I am wrong, and maybe it doesn't make a bit of difference in its performance, but how else to explain it?

From what I gather the uniti serve is build on digifi. Which in turn is build on XP. Perhaps that needs the video ports (or more likely the video ports could be available in case the uniti serve is near a TV instead of a computer).

Judging by the position of the digital audio sockets and the screws next to them, these are not part of the motherboard and the unity serve uses a separate audio card.A bit like the HDX perhaps?

One should consider the end user. S-Video might be the only option for some older TVs. I'm using this to display the HDX interface on the TV, works fine and the cable was easy to dig up.

yep, LOL. It has the new HDX motherboard and can be used without a PC in the setup to do all it needs to store play and organise files easily. The ports are there for a good reason but of course, you don't need to use them.
