hi folks,
while rummaging through my hifi folder to clear out useless stuff i came across something quite interesting. its a posting from jv in response to an earlier one of mine on keith jarrett's "the koln concert". I only had a printout (wish we had the archives, there are real gems in there…) so i had to type it in… what i do for you lot!!!

Subject: Keith Jarrett
I remember hearing the Koln concert for the first time in 1976 or 77 and being amazed by his brilliance. We (Ivor & I) used to use this album a lot for evaluating arms and cartridges. It was listening to this disc that we first heard the Breuer tonearm.
Keith did several concerts in London in the late 70s and Bill Woodman (ATC and no mean keyboard player himself) got tickets for one Sunday night special at Drury Lane. At the end of the second set he finished what seems like mid bar. The applause was tremendous and after some minutes of 'encore, encore', Keith returns to the stage and says 'thanks, but my music has a beginning, a middle and an end, we have came to end - Good night!
Great musician, great music.
By the way, there are several more of his discs that are excellent, (and some that are less so)

thanks Ken,
It's great to see this old JV post. Especially since some of us can relate to what JV saw in KJ....nice to remember jv in this way. It would be great for forum members storing old jv posts to start a thread with nothing more than those posts (no comments in other words)...just post them.
regards,
dave
P.S. La Scala, The Melody at Night with You and Whisper Not are some of my newer KJ favorites.

i have la scala, but not melody at night with you, and stupidly, havent bought "whisper not" yet. bit behind, i am afraid, probably because of my second honeymoon with vinyl.

"but not melody at night with you..."
Oh man...*run* to the store ken, don't walk.
Kinda like Chris Anderson/Charlie Haden's "none but the lonely heart"( on the emotion scale). Charlie writes in the liner notes "Chris is risking his life with every chord, that's how much it means to him."
Same thing with kj on "melody at night with you". If "melody..." (actually, either of these cds) doesn't put a lump in your throat- you're not a member of the human race or your hifi is broken.
regards,
dave
P.S. Thanks for supporting a "jv posts" thread. I'd start it but I didn't archive anything from the old forum.
