Ashes to Ashes.

Probably a dumb ass questioon but which Bowie album is this off?

I think I need it in my life.

Quite right Gary - everyone should have this record in their lives.

Ed

I really haven't a clue, Gary.

However, let me make some totally unsolicited recommendations: I think what you really need is Ben Harper, "The Will to Live" (which features a song called "Ashes"), and Rickie Lee Jones, "Traffic from Paradise" (which features the Bowie title "Rebel, Rebel"). There.

Scary Monsters, indeed I will purchase it forth with.

Bowie is excellent that as why the brits like him.

Not only the brits.
HereĀ“s a Swede that think that his music has been one of the most important and influential in popular music ever.

P.s. Garyi. If you can, get it on Lp.

Your first line is the give away...plus you refer to one album by each artist. I refer to the decades by Bowie Albums. Presumably you also like Lulu - she covered Man Who Sold the World....

Gunnar - right on!

Mike,

Indeed, I have no clue (as concerns Bowie; I did teach at his old school in London, though!).

I only mentioned two individual albums because they have songs on them that Gary's enquiry reminded me of. I think he understood I was only winding him up a bit.

However, since we're going all defensive here, let me contribute: Ben Harper has produced four studio albums -- give him a break, he's a bit younger than Bowie. Rickie Lee Jones, despite being somewhat older than Harper, is still not as prolific as Bowie; she's not had the most consistent career, but you might well find her best albums rather exceptional (for example the one I mentioned).

I have a shrine dedicated to Lulu -- how did you know?

Does any one detect a similarity between Bowie and Be Bop Deluxe?

Some of it sounds similar to me.

All good stuff.

If you think my comments petty, you should hear what an arse I am being at work!

Truce?

Off to hear how close Norah Jones sounds to KD lang......

Guys, you'd better NOT make fun of my shrine ... I invested a full 20 minutes in its creation. It was a thoroughly spiritual experience.
