Geoff and Mark,

You probably don't have a copy, but Zerodust is featured on p100 of the current Hi-Fi+ (issue 17).

It is another wacky Japanese invention. Basically it is a circular gel pack that you lower the stylus into and to which any dirt harmlessly attaches.

Incidentally I’ve come to the conclusion that the Japanese love cleaning utensils. My girlfriend has supplied me with a Mugi (the brand) roller. It is basically a roller consisting of flypaper which you manoeuvre over the floor, settees, clothes etc and which removes loose debris. Just as you would a toilet roll, you then tear off the exposed sheet to reveal a new fresh sticky surface below. It has become very useful in defluffing black clothes and removing crumbs from bed!

Cheerio,

Dave

Postscript, I have just found a picture... not very clear though!

Dave,

I got some green blutak-like stuff from Expert Stylus after a re-tip about 5-6 years ago.

Mt hodges recommended using this in place of a vibrating cleaner, but I'm afraid I've gone back to the AT637. More because I'm just comfortable with using it, really.

cheers, Martin

The lid of the box is an magnifying glass, which helps to see what you are doing.

As for performance enhancement, I would say slightly more stable tracking and a cleaner sound, plus the reduction in concern about any damage to the records.

There wew definitely specks of crap adheing to the gel surface after application to the stylus.

I would love to be able to get an Audio Technica electronic cleaner again, but mine was nicked, and you can't get them for love or money now.
