It's been a good weekend for me - my office is part of the Livingston stadium so I'm happy they stayed up, then this today. Very nice indeed.

I only just heard the news as I went to see Revenge of the Sith this afternoon. As Celtic appear never to get beaten by fair means have we had the usual load of excuses trotted out?
1. The ref's a Mason
2. The linesman was spotted wearing a Rangers top a while back.
3. The team was tired after a long season.
4. The team was unsettled by speculation about O'Neill.
5. The Motherwell manager's a former Rangers player (oops - that's actually true!)
6. Hibs lay down to Rangers.
7. The SFA is biased towards Rangers.

Etc etc.
I think a dram or two may be downed tonight!

I take it there are no Celtic fans on this forum, based on what's been posted so far.

There used to be one as Stallion was a Celtic fan - shame he's not around at the moment!

Its been an exciting season in the SPL and am delighted Rangers won it, we seemed to be written off after the Old Firm defeat at Ibrox.
There are some positives to be taken from the season though it was still a two horse race, namely Aberdeen, huge improvement from the last few years, it might not be too long before they are nudging at the big two again and Hibs, they have played some vibrant attacking football this season if they can keep their youngsters and Tony Mowbrey can build on that who knows.
The week after the Old Firm match Celtic lost 3-1 at home to a very impressive Hibs side and that was the beginning of the end for Celtic's title.

While teams like Aberdeen and Hibs will take points of the old firm during the course of a season it'll be a long, long time before they'll be able to compete over the course of a full season. Neither Rangers or Celtic are particularily strong sides (by their standards) at the moment but both will strengthen significantly during the close season. Next year I'd be surprised if there is any less than a 25 point gap between Celtic in 2nd place and Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen in 3rd.

They will need to make progress because they only got the last European spot on goal difference from Abderdeen and Aberdeen (who now have a good management team) will strengthen in the summer.

For some reason this season Hibs have always run Celtic close in their games but have never been able to threaten Rangers. The last time Hibs came to Ibrox the media were spinning it as a likely win for the Edinburgh side but they actually got pummelled. Perhaps it's because both Hibs and Rangers are footballing sides, but Rangers are better at it? Celtic suffer against teams with a fast attack which might explain why Hibs always trouble them.

Anyway it's likely to be an interesting close season as David Murray has promised a few more significant signings and Celtic have a lot of work to do, including clearing out the deadwood.

No, unless one of the other sides can find themselves a Russian sugar-daddy (Romanov at Hearts hasn't delivered anything as yet).

With home attendances of 50-60,000 for the old firm and at best 10-15,000 (and many much lower) for the rest there is a huge gulf in income between the old-firm and the rest.

It's not that difference from England where at best 3 teams are capable of winning the title there.
