I talked with a guy at a bar and said he was living in the same apartment complex in LA and she'd spend the day floating around in the pool. Not a happy woman or easy to talk to.

But I wonder about people with no Naim, how do they hold their head up in polite society? Isn't that what Dickens was all about, lost orphans finding they have a Naim?

I wouldn't call her poor or old. She was an extremely intelligent woman, ahead of her time, and dealt with all the shite that a black woman of her era had to deal with. Maybe she was like Jessye Norman and had a Quad system and said to hell with the likes of Naim. After all, she was a smart woman.....

I'd call her dead, though.
