Calling Seattle area forum members

Posted by: ErikL on 05 December 2003

Ladies and gents,

I thought it would be festive to organize a holiday season Naim and music lover get-together. You know- shake hands, drink beer, talk music and Naim, and be merry.

My initial thought is to have a week night out at a local pub. As a backup plan, if anyone would like to invite a bunch of wreckless music nuts into their home, that would be fun too. Actually, that might be more fun.

Respond by indicating your interest, and we can begin organizing from there.

Thanks,
Ludwig Smile

Sounds like a good idea. I'm in Capitol Hill- maybe get together for the first time at a bar, than maybe listening to some systems.

Sounds like West Seattle might be THE place to listen Wink

I would be happy to host at my house in West Seattle, but my speaker situation is unclear at this time.

Any thought on dates?

We, (maxwellspeed, Elaines) are up for anything. We can host, small place, or we can visit. We love vinyl (ummm....records, not clothing). We are on Capitol Hill.

How about sometime during the week between Christmas and New Years?

All,

Well, someplace in Capitol Hill or Chris Bell's home seems to make the most sense.

I don't know Capitol Hill that well since I don't live there. My initial thought is we could meet at this Stumbling Monk place Maxwellspeed mentions (Belgian beer), or Piecora's (pizza and beer), or Barca (beer, drinks). Other suggestions for neat places that could comfortably accomodate a party of 8+?

Chris- What do you mean by uncertain speaker situation? Any Neat Ultimatum MF7's or MF9's on their way in for demo (wink)? I'm sure everyone would be interested in hearing your sweet rig. Also, if you host, what day(s) would work during the week you mention? I'm sure the rest of us could supply food and drink.

Time-wise, I second Chris' nomination for the week between the holidays. As a back-up, do December 19th and/or 21st also work for folks?

It makes sense to meet at someone's home, rather than a bar. The 19th would work, but since this is the busiest time of year for most people, maybe sometime between Xmas and New Year's would be best.

Well, sounds like we have some interest in getting together at least. What's the best way of sorting out details without subjecting the rest of the forum to Seattle esoterica?

Ludwig,

Sometimes it's lonely at the top. If I can find a good speaker to borrow from Hawthorne, then I am happy to host. There are some decent places to meet first in West Seattle (West 5 comes to mind).

Someone should start a phone list or an e-vite.

If we can do this between Christmas and New Year's, I'll join in too. Chris HAD fabulous speakers in his room for the last week, but they're not there anymore Wink He's still got the best house, though.

Maybe I can get the local Wilson dealer to lend me his pair of X2s?

The week between Christmas and New Year's is wide open for me (self employed) so let's aim in that direction.

Those speakers look like Rosie from the Jetsons.

If there is still any room, I would be honored to try and attend. The time between xmas and new years would also be a big vote of mine.
thanks

I lived in the Northwest for many years though have had to relocate to St. Louis. (kind of lonely out here in the midwest!) But I'll be returning to visit family and friends, arriving 19th of December and in Seattle the 20th. If the event happens on the 20th there is a small chance I could crash the party.
What say ye?

..., or Piecora's (pizza and beer), or...

I'd come but you guys will probably be eating thin crust Roll Eyes

Actually, are there any Front Range, CO. members interested in meeting up for a pint over the hols.?

cheers

Dan, I imagine you enjoying Rocky Mountain oysters on thick, nasty Chicago-style pizzas.

Chris,

Would love to see your new digs.

Did you get speakers sorted? What happened to your DBLs?

There has been some confusion about the get together on the 28th. First, anyone and everyone is invited. This is not an invite only party. Second, I am only hosting the event at my house...it is NOT my exclusive party.

I hope this clears things up. I look forward to the 28th.

My apologies if my starting a PT on the matter fueled the thinking that the party was exclusive. The only intention was not to bore non-Seattleites with the details of organizing the get-together.

I look forward to meeting everyone.

PS- A digital camera might be a good idea if someone wants to post pics here after the shindig.
