A hungry man is a angry man.

Alex Lifeson has played guitar solos on both their records. Probably lots of other common things too.

Yes I was idly reading the sleeve notes and noticed this.

The solo in Anesthetize just before it speeds up is Lifeson. It uses a delay, but is quite recognisable as his style.

Live it is played by John Wesley.

I am sure they have many other things in common, ie. Steve Wilson, John Wesley and Alex Lifeson all play Paul Reid Guitars (or have done so).

You could also have had the same in common with King Crimson, as Fripp play guitar on Nil Recurring, and Belew on Deadwing.

Also Japan/Sylvian (Barbieri), Bowie (Fripp/Belew), NIN (Belew), Gong/Sylvian (Theo Travis) etc.

You could get silly with the other similarities, but among such professional musicians playing such similar music, it is probably quite a small world and they probably have met each other through various contacts, and many other similar bands.

Since Porcupine Tree evolved from a solo (even joke) project, and brought in collaborations from others, and through that formed into a live band, it is good to see Steve Wilson as band leader still exploring how others can contribute to the music.

A more obvious thing PT have in common with KC is they share a drummer, Gavin Harrison joining Pat Mastelotto in the currently rehearsing KC lineup (PM & GH on drums, Tonly Levin on basses and stick, Adrian Belew on guitar and Fripp on guitar & soundscapes).
