Are Alfa Romeos that bad?

I am thinking of buying (new) an Alfa 147, but have heard good reports and awful reports of previous owners.

Am I mad to buy?

I had a 156 a few years ago and it was nice to drive, nice to look at quite welll appointed. Mechanically it was a dog. We had two others with the paddle gear changes. Both had to have new gear boxes. We are no longer allowed to get Alpha's as a company car.

If your paying yourself stay away from them!

But life is too short to drive a VW golf isn't it. Of course nowaday's (winter in the Netherlands) it's a force to open a GTV door in the morning. Unlocking it takes ages.....) Well, it's worth it. It's like owning a Naim cd2. You'll play it for a couple of year's with great pleasure. And then the laserunit breaks down. And it's very hard to get a spare unit......................
