Music from DJ Catch

Posted by: Mike Hanson on 29 October 2002

I've mentioned several times here on the forum that I've got a home studio, and I thought it was time to give you a sample of my wares.

This track involved my wife, Jill Mabey, as well as my usual collaborator, Mike Tuchscherer. Mike and I had recorded something earlier, which inspired Jill to write a poem listing countless sexual proclivities.

We decided to put her spoken words to music, and this is the result. (I should probably state that listener discretion is advised.)

All About Sex

Enjoy!

Thanks. I had never heard of Jane Birkin. I was able to rustle up a few biographies on the net, but no audio samples could be found. She seems very interesting. So does she actually sound like my wife, or is it purely the risque content that makes you equate the two?

No waffles, BTW. There are a few other types of sex that were not mentioned (either purposefully or not):

  • Necrophilia
  • Insest
  • Blood Worship
  • Dressing up Like Fluffy Animals (I can't recall the name of this at the moment).

I'm sure that there are countless others, but we came up with this list of omissions the other day.

Two individuals have expressed their satisfaction, which is appreciated. However, this is the Naim forum! I would have expected at least one member to give me some criticism (either constructive or otherwise wink).

For those comments, as well as your call last night. (BTW, Jill says no phone calls after 10pm. wink)

Yes, I agree with you regarding the "texturing" of the piece. I did (and still do) intend to add more spice to the mix. It's just a little tough, though, due to the amount of time required to find a method to recreate each element that I've envisioned. Sometimes I can get lucky and quickly happen upon a bunch of magic. More often, it's a drawn-out, painstaking process of searching, experimentation, trial & error, etc.

BTW, Alan is right about that fisting thing. razz

Don't worry, I won't change too much. I just want to add a bit more flavour to the broth, here and there. As it is, there are spots that sound incomplete to me. I do have the will to say "That's enough!" at some point though. big grin

As to that research, my wife is quite worldly...

More of my music...

I just finished mastering another one of my tracks, and I thought I would give my fellow Naimees a chance to hear it.

Da-Dance

It started out as a sample of one of my music buddies laughing during the recording of a vocal track. I started cutting it up, and you can hear the result. Enjoy!

Thanks, Nick. Regarding the panning, I was having fun with it, and I occasionally think it's a little intense, and then I think that's probably a good thing. Big Grin
