Well deserved lifetime achievement awards 1 - The Geeter with the Heater

When I used to live in Southern New Jersey life was dull. No decent reggae or drum and bass on the radio. It was a musical wasteland, apart from one thing - Jerry Blavet, The Geeter with The Heater. I've just heard that he's been given a lifetime achievement award and if anyone deserved one he does. He's been plugging away, promoting doo-wop, real rock n roll and 50's and 60's soul for ever. I just wish I could pick up his show over the internet.

Doo-wop is an incredible musical genre that just doesn't get enough play. Also there's a problem finding it on CD. I have quite a bit on vinyl but CD's are difficult to find. The Spaniels, The Moonglows, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, The Silhouettes, and Danny & The Juniors have been re-released. But people like The Castelles, The Hideaways, The Angels, The Re-Vels, The Capris, The Bluenotes,Teddy & The Twilites, The Orlons, Dovells, The Tymes, The Dreamlovers, Anthony & The Sophmores and Billy & The Essentials can't be found for love or money. The annoying thing is that a lot of these guys are still around and still play in Philly and New Jersey. Can't be sure if they're the originals, but if not they're certainly of the right age.
So how about suggesti0ns for doo-wop records? I'll even accept Frank Zappa's Cruisin with Ruben and the Jets - a great record that sounds like a genuine white doo-wop record of the fifties to me
