SL construction, the tweeter is connected directly to the frame with a cabinet surrounding but not touching it.

Thank you John.

That tweeter mount is fascinating. Should even get the round earth types drooling

Do the knobs of the 552 come with the traditional rubberization? Or are they (gasp) turned from solid aluminium billets?

I predict CDSIII and Naim subwoofer for Bristol 2003! (Naim, feel free to work on an Intro III while you're at it)

john, many thanks for the photos ... all falls into place now. i suppose the 2 in SL2 is for the 2 boxes-- just guessing. that foam cover -- does it extend beyond the top of the speaker as in the side photo?

i like it!!! it doesnt look overwhelming. i think this is going to be a winner.

as a matter of comparison, what is the equivalent in price in the b&w range? just curious...

i bet you there is going to be a long waiting list for the 552... i wont be in it, unless my lottery numbers come up...

enjoy

ps: anymore??? insatiable appetite here...

Apparently the speaker in the AV room under the TV was infact naims new centre speaker, that had a quiet entrance eh?

The Axcent or something.

The name SL or SL2 (I heard both mentioned at the show) is just factory code name, its apparently yet to be decided what it will be called.

Rumour has it they're naming it the "Mcbeal".

The new Naim logo? Sorry about the quality of the image.

obviously all will be announced in good time, but did naim indicate when the sl2 will be available at dealers?

just "out of curiosity" again, does the 552 have the same "input 2b" arrangement for the prefix?

Ken.

I may be way off the mark here but assuming prefix has something to do with phono.

The 552 offers 'two' phono inputs for those people wishing to use different types of cables. I believe therefore the four phono inputs were in fact for each of the wirs of a phono stage.

I could and probably am wrong.

Ouch!!

sorry i am a bit slow on this one, but where is the mid/bass unit? and does it have the sbl-like "phalic" heat dissipation arrangement?? i'll re-read some earlier posts just in case i missed something -- very likely...

it cant sound any good with all that metal surely!!! big grin big grin big grin

And price on that? I need a centre speaker to match Credos.

Regards
Steve

Again steve the price was a little scetchy as it was an 'all in price'.

I fancy that it will be around the grand mark. so far as I could tell there were three speaker units in it, a nice cherry finish this speaker and along the new SBL2 design there didin't appear to be a straight line in sight, although it seemed to curve in a quadraspire sort of way.

but i was first...!!

it will a very sad occasion when i part with my sbl's frown frown
