I could and probably am wrong.
the 52 has an arrangement called input 2b (which i am currently using -- my hicap is now on the 112) which powers the prefix and also provides a signal connection. i dont know whether what you have said answers my question -- sounds like the phono sockets are for direct connection of prefix-less phono signal. perhaps someone will find out for sure tomorrow?? i am just curious -- i cannot afford 552 right now...

yet another example of "different" views...
surely it cant sound any good with all that "metal" ??

just "out of curiosity" again, does the 552 have the same "input 2b" arrangement for the prefix?
The DIN immediately to the left of the two sets of phono sockets is marked 'powered' and has a grounding post. I assume it's intended to connect to a Prefix or successor.
Paul
that sounds like a better arrangement -- less error prone. for that reason alone, i will buy the 552
paul, many thanks.

Cool rack!

Ken, If you look closely at the 1st SL2 consturction pic, you'll see the woofer on the floor.
It's interesting to see that Naim appear to have chosen a sleeve extrusion as opposed to the current 5 series "jigsaw" arragement.
That Exposure rack is supercool. Anyone know what it is? I'll take one in black, mini cactii and all.
Was Linn close to the Rega room? Perhaps the CD12/Klimaxx was polluting Rega's mains circuit hehe
If I was the anorak in charge of the Rega room, I would have punched holes into the wall, put the P9 on a wall shelf and taken the bloody dustcover off! What spkrs were they using?
thanks again, John.
P.S. I'm a wee bit disallusioned by the fact that John seems to drive a "New Beetle"

Close! It's an Audi TT.
John
Find that more than a little bit disturbing. Have tried a CDSII/XPS and didn't like it. Is Naim about to abandon those of us with ears?
Willy.
Thanks for your efforts
LOVE that shot of the wing mirror!! It'd make a great album cover.
interesting ... i did think about this "optimnal" config when i looked at the photo.
what's the other box on the NAP 500 shelf?
the system as shown will need 3 power supplies -- 500ps, 552ps, and xps. so i guess the extra box is the 552 p/s??

But even with the new 552 I still don't really like the series5-design (sorry) and also I am not totally convinced by the look of the SL2 (again sorry)...
I hope it's the same as with SBLs: they look better in reality than on any foto...
Jun
y're faster then me. i had forgotten about the 52 and its p/s.

the naim fraim is definitely in my radar, but i will need to see what i am happier with to start with, the sl2's or the fraim. i cannot afford both right now.
at this point in time, the 552 is way out of my league... looks like naim have upped the ante now. their top flight cd system will now be:
cdsii; 552; 3xnap500; supercap for 3-6 snaxo; dbl's; plus a number of fraims with strategically placed empty shelves...
drool...

Thanks for the pics! In the one that you entitled
'The only Mana to be seen at the show!!', do I see an SME 3009 SII on that turntable? What was the T/T and who was using it?
If you can't remember, no probs. Just a nostalgia trip.
Best Regards,
Mark Dunn
