It's goodnight from me (and it's goodnight from him)...

Posted by: Top Cat on 11 December 2001

Hi folks.

I just thought I'd let you know that I'm going to be easing back from this and the other forums for a while - I've got the system at a state which I am delighted with, and so I will be concentrating on enjoying what I have and buying new music.

It's been one heck of a journey and I've discovered a great many things about audio and music along the way. My system has evolved significantly over the last two years, although I never did end up on the Naim path that so many of you are on, but you've accepted me nonetheless, for all my faults big grin

So, thanks to everyone, I will fade from view for a while now and enjoy where I am with my system and music. Of course, you are all welcome to email me, but I'll be making only the occasional visit to this and other forums for the forseeable future.

Because such things can be blown out of all proportion by hearsay and speculation, I'd like to add that I am doing this the following reasons:

...and not for any other reason, as all those disagreements were fun, really, honest Guv...

It's been a roller-coaster ride, from the hey-days of the old forum (as a lurker) to my Mana Preacher Stage, my dithering about that 82/250 (I dithered in the other direction), the death of a loved one (LP12/Aro/etc.), its transparent replacement and latterly my radical move to a lunchbox-with-cooker-knobs as a preamp (it works, and is in some ways the biggest upgrade I've ever made to any system, although the Mana has to be up there too).

So, my friends, I can only thank you all for an entertaining, if somewhat up-and-down, ride.

I'll pop in from time to time just to observe and answer any directed questions, but for now it is goodnight from me and goodnight from him...

TC,

It's sad to see the hatchet-job thats going on over there, you have my sympathies. Hope your decision to give the forum(s) a rest for a while wasn't precipitated by recent events.

I don't think anyone mentioned any lies, so is this something you know that nobody else does (myself included?)

As for hospitality - well, cooking a veggie chili which was ready for the agreed time but still waiting with said food ready over an hour later (Ian was delayed) without a call. When the call came, I put the thing in the freezer as I figured they must have stopped for tea at TFs.

The hospitality stuff is nonsense - Vuk, you're obviously believing all the misinformation that is flying around, such as the jogging thing (who jogs at 11pm at night anyway? Not me? But it has been claimed that I was out jogging when Ian and Greg arrived - rubbish, I was watching the end of Frasier on the TV!)

Sigh. Vuk, get your facts straight first, my friend.

I think not. TC has merely committed the terrible crime of omission. wink

After all, with the Mana pack, one has to be very careful what one says...

Actually, the ones that I've met and got drunk with are a decent bunch o guys. smile

Anyone who has heard what Mana does, and yet states a personal preference for something else is either dishonourable, mad, deaf or lying, or all of the above. razz

Vuk, how are the flying lessons going? big grin

You choose to ignore me and I normally choose to ignore you since I have no desire to be shouted at.

Nonetheless, I find your self-appointed directorial post as arbiter of matters moral and aesthetic on this and the Mana Forum to be in need of voluntary redundancy.

May I congratulate your managing to hold on for 3 minutes before ejaculating.

What is the exact opposite I meant Stallion to write for me?

Something like this:

A "directorial post" in this context cannot be said to be "in need of voluntary redundancy". The person who holds said post can.

As a "Stallion" pastiche, however, it was, as always (and constantly unsought, in the least-likely quarters, greatly, fondly to await), magnificent.

Best;

Mark
