202 or 282? an upgrade
Posted by: ricardo on 25 February 2003
Hello - a first post here so i hope all's ok with it.
I have really enjoyed my naim system (sistem !???) for the last two and half years, and am now thinking of some upgrades, particularly in view of the new equipment now available. Specifically, I'm thinking of changing the nait 5 for a pre / power amp combination. My existing arrangement is:
CD5 / Nait 5 / Flatcap2 / Intro2
I don't have an exhuastable supply of funds, but i would rather stretch the cost now than change again in another couple of years. My experience suggests that a great improvement is achieved with a good pre amp with a good PSU.
My inclination is therefore to look at the 282 with a 200, and use existing flatcap2 to power the 282.
Alternatively, for similar money, there's the option of a 202 + NAPSC + Hicap + 200.
It's really a question of the difference between the 202 and the 282. At double the price, what does the 282 have (apart from the NAPSC + separate play/record) that the 202 doesn't ?
Any comments, suggestions or experience would be most welcome. Thanks
