Let's have some fun.
This section of the forum can be a bit doom-and-gloom.
Answer the question and then ask another.
I'll start.
Q. What was the name of the B29 Superfortress that dropped the second atomic bomb? Correct spelling please.

It's John Harrison's Marine Timekeeper H4. Chronometers such as this made navigation so much easier as an accurate longitude could be established.
How I remember the joys of learing to swing a sextant as a Midshipman onboard the Dartmouth Training Ship nearly 30 years ago.
OK, if you are going to establish your position at sea with star sights, what do you use to work out which stars you can expect to see, wherever you are in the world?

Planisphere?

Nope, but I can see your logic. The item I used was a little different - think trek and wars and add a word

'Scuse me for butting in, but I've got a backlog of questions to ask...
Q/. Who won the Guinness Rugby Premiership in 2007?
Chillkram? Flyfisher?

Ok,
You are getting close with "star", now think of a Shakespearean theatre.

Chops,
Come on it's only 3 moves - I should have put this on Don's brain teaser thread.

Tomorrow it will have been a whole week! Who will get the right three moves, win the laurels and great acclaim?

You because you are super intelligent.

OK Acad,
I haven't played chess in decades and I don't know the terminology to describe the moves correctly, but here goes:
Third white pawn from left forward one space to challenge black knight. Black King is currently in check with white knight, which is protected by the white king, so black king has to move two places left to get out of check. This exposes the now challenged black knight.
Third white pawn from left takes black knight; white king and knight remain safe, black moves, but the black king can't go far.
Third white move is the left hand bishop diagonally forward three places and you have checkmate.
Any good?
Cheers
Rob

White knight to H6, then black king has to move right or left. If black does F8 then white moves the queen to F7 or G8 which is checkmate.
If black moves the king to H8 in the corner then white moves the queen to G8. Black has to take queen with rook which appears to relieve black of the pressure. But the white knight back to F7 is check mate because the black king is immobilised by the rook.
