You're welcome.
John indicates in his most recent post that this will be an ongoing band along with his other projects. JM3 is headed back to the studio to complete a studio disc called "Continuum" and then JM is planning on recording, as he put it, "a SOLO acoustic album".

I am not a big John Mayer fan - his first two albums never really grabbed me - a bit too pop.
Anyway, I bought the new trio album today as - a live CD and it is absolutely superb.
A real good rock CD with some good blues thrown in. Excellent guitar playing and I have to say this will get many plays for me over the coming summer months.

Pleased to hear it turned out well, we don't get the release here 'til Tuesday.
Spend some time focusing on Steve and Pino - what a rhythm section - and , as you noted, John is inventive beyond most people's expectations.
Good listenin'

Was at the store at 7am today to get this, though my mail-order copy should be here in a few days. I will need the extra copy as I will be wearing this out.
Gravity, Vultures, and Out Of My Mind on repeat play - can't think of a reason to ever leave home again 'cept maybe to see them live again - memories of Sept 8 are renewed - it feels so good.

LOL! We did the same thing you did. Pre-order from Music Today. Pissed that it hadn't arrived by release day, ran to Best Buy to grab a copy.
It does bring back memories. As good as Try is, tho, IMO they were better in Vegas. I get a sense that they were a bit nervous and slightly restrained in Chicago for the Try recording.
Now - apparently there is a vinyl release of Try through the Aware store online. I'm gonna order that today - hope it's a little thicker than the microslice versions of Room for Squares and Heavier things!
Cheers!

Well, "real" live is always better than a recording.
But Gravity, Vultures, Out Of My Mind and I Got A Woman, are getting frequent repeat plays at my house.
And, for this artist in particular, an opening song called "Who Did You Think I Was" is just perfect.

Let me ponder that a bit ... hadn't thought of it before.
If at some point you would like some other JM, his previous incarnations are much more pop oriented, though a live double CD "Any Given Thursday" includes some extended guitar playing, again superb. The "Try" tracks "Somethings Missing" and "Daughters" are from his pop period albeit a little different in the power trio recording.

I love 'Somethings missing' its one of my fave tracks! 'Daughters' is also a lovely track for us fathers to relate to, it has that family/sentimental quality similar to this new JCB song thats probably going to be the UK christmas no1.
Still haven't got this trio album yet but it will be purchased I promise!!
