Anyone has experience on this? Very keen to know the results on sonic improvement if any.

I am waiting to have mine converted. I will report in due course.

Just booked mine - surprised in the context of Naim prices that it is only £250.

I'm lucky since my HDX is a couple of months old and will be getting a complimentary upgrade. But I've also asked for a SSD HDD swap. Still waiting to hear what this will cost and how long it will take.

Is the £250 to change the PCI audio card only? Thanks

All the new HDXs have BNC connectors now, yes ?

Can this be retro fitted also ?

In other words, could you pick up an early-ish HDX and throw into Naim service (when they're back from holiday) for the new PCI card, SSD conversion and a BNC connector to be fitted....?

Would it, then, be the exact same machine as new stock ?

Steve.

And to upgrade the RAM apparently.

Are Naim dealers doing this upgrade, or is it something that needs to be done by the distributor or Naim itself?

Card and RAM is a dealer fit. HDD exchange isn't.

Unforeseen problem with this. While the HDX is away being fettled the dealer said why not try the 555PS on the CD555 I.e. 2xPS on the CD player.
Oh dear what an expensive upgrade this will be! Distributed audio fans will probably see this as irrelevant but it does take the CD555 to an unbelievable (and analogue) level.

I don't see as an irrelevance. More an inevitability. What on earth possessed you? You should have known better!

In the US, this will be, for the time being, a distributor-fitted upgrade, as there are a few minor pitfalls to avoid during the process. US retailers will receive information about the options after CEDIA UK.

Well its back - certainly faster so the RAM works. As to sound difficult to say if its closed the gap on the CD555 but will listen to my reference tracks later. Sounding good though on the Avett Brothers at the moment.

How does the HDX sound with the new soundcard compared with previously - is it worth the up grade?
Cheers

Well having spent a couple of evenings listening to the upgraded HDX my overall conclusion is that it sounds less digital if that makes sense. It has taken a big step towards a natural analogue sound especially with acoustic instruments. From my point of view that is "better" in that I still rate my vinyl as the best source , just ahead of the CD555.
It is responding faster to searches - which must be down to the RAM.
One oddity is that it keeps losing connection with the ipod touch using the APP. It finds it again easily but this did not happen before.
Is it worth the money - probably but not vital.

Thank you Jeremy. That's worth knowing and something to look forward to when I get mine done.
