Independent Music - Singer/Songwriters

Have always loved singer/songwriters in the indie music area - not signed to big labels, releasing their own music, sales primarily through their own websites, etc. Some terrific music being produced this way. Typically when touring play 600 seat venues or smaller, often times playing in bars/taverns/pubs.

Steve Tannen, Deb Talan, Bill Deasy, Lea Krueger, Carrie Akre, Joel Shearer.

Offer up any other suggestions ....

I should mention a friend of mine's band - www.thelovemakers.com - they're picking up an audience in the US, have put out a CD, etc.

songwriters - sometime they have record deals, sometimes not.

Jonatha Brooke.

She was on a major label when she was a part of the duo The Story, but has had her own label for years now as a solo artist. One of the truly greatest singer/songwriters around; she's got it all: music, lyrics, guitar playing, singing ... all world class.
