Anyone watched / heard the new DVD and CD sets yet? Thoughts?
James

PS The Edge is going to be doing the official opening of Rory Gallagher Corner, Temple Bar, Dublin this Friday evening (16th June), for which free tickets are available (note for those in Dublin!) - check the following for details http://www.rorygallaghercorner.com/

What a player, saw him many times. I must investigate the DVD.

He is sadly missed. Watching Derek Trucks play some slide at the EC gig made me think of Rory. The setting at Hampton Court would have been ideal for him and really rocked.

I think Rory was more of a Shepherds Bush Empire guy than a Hampton Court guy! Too many suits and stuffed shirts at HC!

Alas, I wont be able to make it to this, but when I am in town I'll take a picture of the new Rory sculpture and post it.

Take your point Chris, but some of those "suits" were long haired fans in jeans back then (books and covers). They don't change just because they are a bit wealthier and older. Winker

By saying that the venue was ideal, I meant that it was an ideal size, open air and a fine evening. Great stuff.

Weellll did you everrr.....

Guilty as charged! Who could afford naim as a Rory fan in the 70's! Keep forgetting that the next milestone birthday starts with a 6! Good grief where has the time gone??

I'll eventually have to get this DVD set. I saw him 5 or 6 times during the 70's and was his biggest fan as a teenager. I have all the studio albums.
Did he have a private life at all? We never really heard anything about him as a person and he kept himself pretty secluded privately. I know nothing about his life outside of him as a performer.

Quiet, unassuming and downright unpretentious by all accounts.
