wine drinking

Posted by: fishski13 on 15 May 2006

oenologists,
i went out for a lovely dinner last eve and consumed 2 glasses of red wine. the wine tasted a bit oxidized, but palatable. no complaints until i awoke early this a.m. - i felt like i had consumed much more, with a hangover headache and indigestion to boot. this has happened more than once with oxidized wine, but never with wine freshly corked. coincedence or is there an explanation?

Mild food poisoning?

Bizarrely, I've just poured myself a glass of Chianti which I opened before i went to the UK for 2 weeks. Thought I might as well finish it off...

Now you mention it, it does taste a little oxidised (if not a lot), and it'll now be introduced to DC's best plumbing.

Thanks for the reminder of what I might have faced tomorrow!

maybe i was already dehydrated and this was enough to put me over - when you run 30-40 mi. a week, and commute the same to and from work on bicycle, i have a difficult time taking in enough fluids, and alway feel like i dehydrate easily. but like i said this scenario has played out before. my wife and i will uncork a bottle and consume half of it - the next morning i feel fine. that following evening, i'll finish it off and the next day i feel like shite.

Sorry Diccus, but seeing your name has given me the giggles. Your first name wouldn't be Biggus by any chance?
I really must watch the Life of Brian again.

Steve O,

Having corresponded with Diccus privately recently, I now know where his nom de plume comes from. You are along the right lines, is all I am saying.

Life of Brian an all time classic, and also led to the ridiculous Malcolm Muggeridge interview, another comedy classic Big Grin .
