I bought exactly one of those a couple of weeks ago.
Only tried it for one evening and went back to using my old leads. Seemed to hold back the sound.
Will put it back on e-bay when I get around to it.

Only use a Hydra, Musicworks or original cables. Others degrade the sound.

I made my own hydra and I like it.
I experimented with shielded cables and did not like them.
I've never heard one of those 4-way mains plugs.
My hydra has Wattgate IEC plugs that look like those fat blue ones, except they aren't blue.
I've watched a couple of them go on ebay, and I'm not sure the seller is making back the cost of the components.

Avoid silver mains cables with Naim gear, they don't like it,

Looks like a waste of money to me - it's typical of eBay. Much better to follow munch's suggestion and use proper Naim leads - cheaper, superior and no eBay involved - so it's 3 out of 3 for good sense IMO.

Me neither. Get a proper Grahams hydra or one of the 4 way plug things. Assuming you are in the UK of course. If you have only two or three leads, you can just get a Crabtree plug and stuff them all in.

The yellow cable looks remarkably similar to some I got from Wickes (ie. yellow) on the cable I made to my Sky box.
It would be interesting to see what the internal wiring in the plugboard is. Some daisy-chain links of wire from one socket to the next, so you're going to get a degraded mains at the last socket.
That said, I made up a plugboard with carefully measured equal lengths of cable to each socket. It took me ages and I thought it would be great. It sounded pretty bad.

More eBay rubbish, IMHO of course - I bet it sounds as bad as it looks - I wouldn't waste time or money on this kind of stuff.
I'd follow Nigel's or munch's advice above.

if i wasnt supposed to post the ebay link i apologize. thing is, im in the states, and planning to run a 220 line for my system, and havent been able to locate and receptacles, bocks, etc for 220. thats why i asked. now dont crucify me, its an all linn system...is the naim hydra a good fit here? what are my choices for plugging in 5 220v cords into one thing? thank you all

I find it difficult to see any advantage in setting up a 220 line for your system.
If you replicate the UK mains absolutely (which I doubt you can) - then you may get some help from Grahams on this matter - best to ask them.
From the point of view of this forum, the hydra exclusively gets used with Naim equipment.

Adam,
have you been so lucky to audition a demo of 110v vs 220v in the states? quite a few dlrs whom i trust greatly have done so and swear by it...not to mention its a great value upgrade. Thanks for the info regarding the hydra.

If the 220 line you are thinking about is a dual phase line, it is 207v 60Hz. This voltage is too low for European Naim gears. And of course the equipment is not performing at its best. Some other brands may like to be under powered...
