G4

Chaps

I purchased the G4 Cd yesterday. You may recall G4 are a quartet who won a recent television talent contest. This is their first release.

The music is mixed, ranging from Bohemian Rhapsody through to Jurusalem through to Life on Mars.

The quartet is dominated by the voice of the lead singer but it is another of those CDs that you know you will play again and again.

The overall style is similar to the original Queen version of Bohemian Rapsody but I would say that G4 do it better.

Well worth buying.

You're joking right!!

I seem to recall a (one star) review I read saying even your Grandmother would be embarrased by this CD. Though it did say Bo Rap was the best effort of a poor bunch.

This is a first Eek
I think Mick is spot on with regard G4... it certainly is different and well worth a listen to. I don't buy any album on what the critics think or say,I just listen for myself.
The lead singers voice is quite unique and he seems to carry the rest of them, they're certainly better than the manufactured equivalent called Il Divo.
The only minor criticism of the album I would say is, perhaps in the mixing, where the music does overpower their voices on some of the tracks.

Clive

PS I still think the original of Bohemian Rhapsody is the best.

Never mind what the critics say, most of them are on an ego trip.

I also think the Life on Mars is better than the oririginal version.

Funny,'cos I recently included g4 doing bohemian crapsody "live" on a tv chat show in the "music from hell" post. Personal taste, & all that.No offence mick.

X-Factor was the one and only talent show I've ever watched and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For me G4 were by far the outstanding act, vastly superior to the lounge-lizard karaoke cabaret singer who won it. My wife bought the CD and although I've not yet heard it all I'm so far quite impressed.

And Matt, given that you referred to it as "bohemian crapsody" should anyone be suprised that you didn't like G4's version of it?

Yeah, tom, fair comment. As I said in the "music from hell" post, I never did like queen, but did admit they were a talented band that produced music that most modern pop acts could never come close to. Just not my cup of darjeeling. No offence intended to any queen fans out there.

Final proof (if needed) at last that Mick P is in fact trolling.

No-one with any remote passing interest in music can like G4, so the only reason for mentioning them is to provoke.

When the programme was on, I thought G4 had "it" - something that made them stand out from the other acts and therefore should have won the show. Maybe they were just the fly on the pile of shit....

I have heard the CD and would prefer to spend the purchase price on something else.

...... and is the track not called "Jerusalem" ? Smile Yes, totally pedantic but this thread will have to go somewhere to relieve the boredom ........
