What was the last film you saw?

I really think it is about time we started a movie thread.

Recent decent (or not).

'Sideways'. Loved every minute. Sharp funny and bittersweet. I hate wine too.

'The Aquatic Life Of Steve Zissou'. Deliciously odd, if a little thin in places. Suspect another viewing will reveal more fun.

'Million Dollar Baby' Irritating. Technically accomplished, hard not to be impressed by Hilary Swank but ultimately too cliched. The ending could be seen a mile away.

'The Woodsman'. The reason for starting the thread really, my wife and I found it almost unbearable to watch at times (must be even harder if you are a parent) and, forgiving a few jarring moments, found it intelligent and challenging. Anyone else seen it?

The Descent

A film which apparently had the working title "Chicks with Picks" and rightfully so. A tense, edge-of-your-seat horror film set almost entirely underground. A group of women meet up for some potholing, and end up in a seemingly undiscovered cave system. Only they're not alone...

Fantastic, tense (think Alien style claustrophobic tension), dark and fast paced, without the usual Hollywood pandering to 15 year old adolescents. A great film, opens this weekend...

Highly recommended!

Watched part of an old Hound of the Baskervilles 1958 jobby last night (late). Basil Rathbone etc. One scene on the moor when Sir Charles (A very young Christopher Lee) has a heart attack of sorts, and Dr Watson by his side immediately gives him a large swig of whiskey from his flask, quite funny actually, any modern medical men out there care to comment ?
