Here's to Radiohead for dissing Miley Cyrus and Kanye West!

All I can say is, well done!
I think it's a scream that Radiohead did not make time for Miley Cyrus at the Grammys and that Thom Yorke told her not to have such a "sense of entitlement"
But Miley vows to "ruin" Radiohead because of this.
As if!

Think I read somewhere that Thom Yorke blanked Ronan Keating at an airport.
Hilarious! Apparently keating went over to tell him how much of radiohead fan he was and yorke just walked off. Keating reportedly got quite upset - what did he expect ffs.

To honest I am on the side of Miley Cyrus. Radiohead went to the Grammys and were guests at the event, it is a big American 'showbiz thing', and they should respect the manners of the situation.
If they are above that sort of thing, then they should have declined to attend it, as Woody Allen does to the Oscars.
Miley Cyrus is a teenage girl, full of herself, but still a young girl who made a bit of a fool of herself. Thom Yorke and the others have acted like miserable old gits.
Had this been one of Radiohead's shows, then I would have no problem with the behaviour, it is their 'house', so they can set the rules.

Why are you talking as if this all means anything, it's just showbiz . You know a shallow puddle some where in America.

I didn't realise geography teachers could get angry ...

'This is for all the morons in the audience.' Thom Yorke playing at 'Rock am Ring' in Germany 2001. The audience were rowdy by all accounts, but it does display a degree of arrogance.
Still I went to see Miles Davis four times, and he made Thom Yorke look like model of etiquette, so if you like the music, then you will forgive the person for their faults.
I do think 'Anger of the Geography Teacher' sounds like a great title for a play or arthouse movie.

In old school speak 'disrespecting'.

On BT "give us a dis" was a request for a line disconnect, to allow for testing.

...If I was a 17 yr old indie kid I'd have loved this story ...however as a middle aged blokey I reckon Thom Yorke has totally lost the plot re Miley Cyrus ....bottom line is her "music" isn't "for" him they operate in totally different musical spheres ...my 10 yr old daughter loves Hannah Montana but in 5 yrs time will probably deny ever listening to her! ...it's the way showbiz works that award ceremonys such as the Grammys have Radiohead brushing shoulders with Cyrus. If Thom Yorke want's to be so precious don't bleedin attend mate!

Did you see Radiohead's performance at the Grammys? It was blinding. A version of 15 Step with the USC (I think) marching band.
Weird they'd diss Kanye - he put the video of the performance on his blog, saying it was the performance of the night (this from a man who is not afraid to blow his own trumpet, lol).

Radiohead have a lot of talent. They have no business being at the Grammys, which is a load of corporate c@*k. They only have themselves to blame.

Yeah, I was surprised to see them there. I thought they would have been "conscientious objectors" in some sense.
Their perfomance was good, but the SQ was pretty appalling.

My understanding is that she wanted to meet the band and they declined. She then threw a hissy fit and they responded in a pointed way.
One nil to Thom and the boys IMO.

Miley on Radiohead - audio
This is, like, the link to, like, the interview with, like, Miley Cyrus. Who may be, like, the most annoying person I've ever, like, listened to.

She's 16 years old and is mega successful as a singer / actress and also writes a lot of her own stuff. She appeals to girls of 7-12 years of age. For a young kid, I think that's pretty impressive, even though her father is behind it all.
If Thom Yorke is going to snub everyone that he regards as lightweight, then he supposes that he represents the pinnacle of serious music and presumably will only allow the likes of Brian Eno and Pink Floyd to be worthy of speaking to him.
He's obviously a tit.
Bono is a tit, but I don't think he's so up himself that he wouldn't talk to a kid.
What a tosser.

So no opinion then Ewan?

I have no opinion on the matter, as always.
Where's the humour, eh? What's wrong with these people. I'm off to listen to Porcupine Tree - the hoax band with humour and taste.
Steven Wilson would be disappointed with all this.

Excerpts from the linked M. Cyrus radio 'interview'...
"ok ok ok, like, anyway, yo, so cool, freak out, I am obssessed, I would cry, please, like, freakin', cool.
Like my crew - I had already texted all my friends, I thought I was gonna die. Oh my gosh, I was like literally like, getting teary, I was like someone, I was like gonna cry over. Paul McCartney, said like, hey nice hat to my wardrobe stylist.
You know someone, who like, pukes - that's me! That's ok, I probably wouldn't remember, oh my gosh! There's like a band, and I'm like crying, like freaking out, like on my knees. So I was like so sad, like crying a bit. But no. Isn't that weird? No I have Sex On Fire as my ringtone. I don't like like, rap or pop. I'm not a pop artist. I left cause I was so upset. Dyouwannametotellyou? Do ya? Do ya?
It was stinking Radiohead. I'm gonna ruin them, I'm gonna like, tell everyone!' They stunk, and they could have done so much more. Yes! I don't think they did that good. SHUT UP SHUT UP!"

I'd guess that Thom Yorke didn't want his IQ to drop to sub-normal levels by having the child within his vicinity.
Can you blame him?
