CD555 - lid recalibration

Posted by: Adam Meredith on 18 July 2006

The CD555 has a heavy alloy lid. This is balanced by a tungsten counterweight but, in order to ensure a smooth operation, requires the motor torque to vary through the arc of operation.

Calibration is required for the system to determine the fully open and fully closed positions (extremes of travel). The calibration process monitors the lid as performs a series of cycles from fully closed to fully open – eventually mapping all positions of the lid against the motor force required for the travel to be smooth.

The lid also pauses slightly before the fully shut position – pauses, then completes the closure.

Should you find that for any reason the door on the CD555 goes out of calibration then there is a simple process you can go through to recalibrate it.

Reset
Hold down stop on the top panel and switch the unit on.
The display should read ‘- -‘.
The door button may be flashing indicating that the door is out of calibration.
Switch the unit off.

Door Calibrate
With the door fully closed hold down door button on the top panel and switch the unit on
The display should read ‘- -‘.
The door button should not be flashing.
Switch the unit off.

Door Setting
With the door fully closed hold down door and play buttons on the top panel and switch the unit on.
The door will continually open and close, and the level of open/close gain adjustment will be displayed.
Allow the unit to run until the numbers displayed for each direction have settled to a consistent value.
The door should now open and close consistently with the correct signature.

Switch the unit off.
