HDX with XPS

Posted by: intouch1 on 03 December 2010

just received my XPS and Burndy.
i was under the impression that when using the XPS and Burndy into the HDX, the HDX would not require a mains cable.

guess i was wrong as when only run with the Burndy via the XPS the HDX does not power up.
however, it does illuminate the naim label. guess that means that the analog section is powered by the XPS/Burndy and the digital section is powered by the HDX's mains input.

Drink the Burgundy and connect with a Burndy, eh? Winker

from the manual: THE HDX REQUIRES MAINS POWER AT ALL TIMES - WITH OR WITHOUT AN EXTERNAL POWER SUPPLY.

Yup - the HDX internal PSU now powers the drives, motherboard, system services logic board and digital board.

The XPS powers the analogue board and DAC.

Makes quite a difference, no?
