The Pentangle

During a recent visit to a friends (JN) house I heard a track from this LP record.

Exceptional sound quality and material from a 1968 slab of vinyl. I bought the CD which isn't bad but have since acquired an original copy of the LP. Needless to say the record is far superior and well worth having a look for.

I bet there's a few on here who already own this album. Thanks to John I'm now included.

Don't have vinyl replay but I do have an excellent anthology on SHM cd. Brilliant musicianship.

I used this LP as my test disc when I was trawling round hifi dealers looking for the perfect turntable... so I heard it on an Orbe, Xerxes, P9, LP12, SME 10, Origin Live Aurora, VPI Scoutmaster, Avid Volvere and possibly others. Amazing clarity. 1968-71 was the best time ever for vinyl pressings IMHO. Too bad everyone had BSR autochangers at the time!

The original line up reformed for a single tour last year, and I as lucky to see them at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. Still brilliant.

Pentangle are superb - the debut was a fine blend of folk and jazz and something that was just Pentangle. It is not just the debut that hits the high notes though, their subsequent elpees were quite special too - try Basket of Light.
