only played the CD in the car, sounds excellent to me. It didn't grab me straight away but as with all good albums they grow on you.
The LP is wrapped up as a Christmas present, can't wait

Gave it a test-drive on Spotify Saturday evening - it all sounded a bit 'murky' even on the premium service @ 320 compression. But eldest and I quite enjoyed it in a 'nothing new but could be quite fun anyway' kind of way so I went ahead and ordered the vinyl from Amazon.
Shockingly it arrived at 7am today!
Listening now, sounds pretty good.

ashrafs, we all have our opinions, and each is as valid as the other.
But, in my opinion, this album is a serious try-out between quite different musicians, each from a different era. It's certainly not an ego trip: the music's way too good, and I just don't understand all the negative comments here.
Just my view, of course, but I wonder how many have actually taken the time to "listen" to the music.

If "the music's way too good" , then it should come to you and not require special listening to "get it".
I think most(and I ) have said that it is competently/well played, but without that certain something to take it to the next level.

Fair enough, Howard, we'll have to agree to disagree. Not all music hits home first time. And it can't be right to dismiss an album on the strength of a couple of tracks played on that awful man Woss's show (which I absolutely refuse to watch).
I remember rushing out to buy Led Zeppelin III on the day that it came out, and being terribly disappointed that it wasn't as 'heavy' as the first two. I was wrong, LZ were right, but it took me quite a few listens to appreciate that.

Point taken Graham, I did say "should", I'm sure there are many case of an album coming "to you" after a while.
I have a couple that despite many attempts, still fail to grab.
I have listened twice to the TCV album, but not bought it. There's always Spotify though.

Listened to it a few times over the weekend and I think it’s top class relentless ear bleeding riff driven stuff with obvious QOTSA, Zep and Cream influences. Real man’s music. If you can’t handle it you’re a pussy.
I just loved it.

I tried the Queens of the Stone Age album I have at the weekend, 'Songs for the Deaf', and it just confirmed that I do not like Josh Homme's song writing, or his voice that much either. I also gave Them Crooked Vultures from Reading (BBC on Sky+) one last try.
No pussy, I will stick with Tool, NIN, King Crimson, Killing Joke, etc. when I want something with some power.

It did not happen again for me when I tried. I think this might be an album that works better in the car.

my vinyl copy arrived yesterday. Only heard the cd in the car, so when the clutter from yesterday is clear away it will get a spin

I prefer the sound of the vinyl to that on the CD.

Interesting how polarised the views are on TCV.
I played the CD to my son in our system in the kitchen - typical of most family hi-fi set-ups and then on my main system.
We hated the music on both - good job it was for my daughter who likes Dave Grohl! Ah well!
