AC Power in Africa

I will be traveling to Tanzania, Senegal and South Africa for work. I have never been to these countries before. I will be taking my laptop computer with me and am concerned about AC power issues. Can anyone tell me what to expect and what sort of adaptors will be required?

Expect spikes and surges too when connected to the mains. I would take a surge protector.
